Open Space and Recreation Plan Public Meeting
Thursday, September 28, 2023
RESCHEDULED
We are updating our Open Space and Recreation Plan (OSRP)! The OSRP is a tool the City uses to protect its natural environment, preserve biodiversity and wildlife habitat, improve water quality, upgrade and expand recreational facilities, update its inventory of open space and environmental resources as well as recreational resources and areas, evaluate current policies, goals, and priorities and identify new ones for the maintenance and future needs of such community assets, provide information to the public through text, maps and other forms of illustration, and to help in making important decisions about future open space and recreation opportunities.
We are looking for public input on our current open spaces. The City is sponsoring a public workshop on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at City Hall, 77 Park Street, from 6:30-8:00 pm. The workshop gives you an opportunity to talk about why protecting open space is important, what lands need protection, wildlife habitat and biodiversity protection, and more. There will be a short presentation followed by facilitated small groups to talk about these topics and generate ideas. This effort is being led by a working group of City staff in coordination with a Steering Committee, municipal committees and boards, and consultant.
